Ironwood Schools asks our students to show RISE expectations: Respect, Integrity, Safety, and Excellence. Our K-6 classes earn tickets as a class each month and compete to get the highest number of tickets. Lieutenant Sterbenz gave out the winning December certificate to each class today. This is Mrs. Wangelin's Kindergarten class and Miss Samardich's sixth grade class.

Jada Jenkins, 7th grade, and Lexi Aspinwall, 8th grade, were the Spelling Bee winners last Friday, January 13. Congratulations!

Congratulations to Rex Thomas, Kindergartner, who was the top fundraiser for the PTO! He won lunch and a movie with Mrs. Nigh, and he chose Morgan Anderson and Jocelyn Swiatnicki to join him. Congratulations, Rex!

Check out the fun for WinterFest!

Congratulations to Luther L. Wright band students who attended the NWMA All-Conference Band Festival in Maple, WI. Under the direction of Dr. Steven Siegel, students from 10 participating schools across the U.P., Wisconsin, and Minnesota spent their day rehearsing, followed by a concert the same evening. Link to the performance can be found here: https://youtu.be/a4lMr-nrByg. Congratulations to Madeline Kane, Breanna Freeman, Adrianne Balchik, Skyleigh Pulkas, McKayla Jackson, and Ashlen Kangas!

The first Friday of each month is 4-H for all of the 4th grade. This month, the students learned how to make bouncy balls.

On Friday, 1/6, students from the 4th grade learned how sound waves travel through material. They started by making paper cup telephones, and found that they could talk to each other. Next, they tried connecting two phone lines together, and finally four lines, which all worked. They were having so much fun, they didn't want to stop!

This morning, several students took part in the Women in Welding event at Ironwood. Nice work!

With gingerbread houses, sugar cone tree creations, ornaments, ugly sweaters, and more filling the halls here at IAS, we have truly been spreading the holiday spirit! But, we couldn't leave out our staff and students' incredible holiday door decorations...creativity blooms here!

The students in 4th grade made sugar cone Christmas trees. They had to read the recipe and follow the instructions. They also had to do a 10 assessment question based off the recipe.
They sure had fun.

Ironwood staff participated in the traditional holiday Ugly Sweater Contest today.
