From Mrs. Clausen, 2nd grade teacher: I am so proud of the students of mine who work hard to follow the RISE expectations and try their best everyday. These students deserve to be acknowledged. All January they have been earning a pizza party and today we got to enjoy the fruits of our labor. Keep up the good work! You are all wonderful! I always tell them that true integrity is doing the right thing even when no one is watching.

After a Northern Lights unit, Mrs. Wangelin's kindergarten students celebrated Tech Free Week by inviting artist and parent volunteer,Jessica Thomas, to their classroom for an art project.Mrs. Thomas gave them more fun facts and showed them fun art techniques! Thanks Mrs. Thomas!

Our elementary students were excited to get their t-shirts signed by our Winter athletes!

9-12 graders kicked off Winterfest Week with a Snowshoe Challenge and a S'mores Contest! Seniors won the judges over during the S'mores contest with their sweet strawberry addition. Thank you to all of the students who participated, great job!

Dr. Steven Siegel, Director of Bands and Trumpet at the University of Wisconsin-Superior, made the trek to Ironwood on Friday, January 20th, giving a Pre-Festival Clinic with the Luther L. Wright High School Band. A big thank you to Dr. Siegel for working with the students as they prepare for Concert Festival, which takes place on February 15th at Hurley High School. Both the High School and Middle School Bands will be performing for ratings that day. Specific performance times to be released soon, so stay tuned!

Students enrolled in woodworking have adopted a new community project dedicated to the local veteran community. This work began many years ago, when retired shop teacher Dave Paynter started making the shadow boxes for the local VFW. Ironwood Area School Shop Program has pledged to continue the project. These shadow boxes house the shells of the shots fired at the funerals of veterans as well as the American flag. The shells reference the practice of firing three shots on the battlefield to signal a pause in fighting to remove the bodies of fallen soldiers. They also represent the three words, duty, honor, and country. The boxes are gifted to the families of veterans who have passed.

Students from Mrs. Lavinder's 4th grade class created marshmallow masterpieces yesterday. They started by creating igloos, and were so successful, that they added on to build larger structures. Excellent work!

Miss Ceci's Life Fitness class takes on snowshoeing. A great way to start the day!

Breakfast is served every school day from 7:15-8:00 a.m.

A HUGE congratulations to the 2023 Valedictorian, Lauryn Ramme, and the 2023 Salutatorian, Jazlynn Oja. Excellent work, ladies!
