In response to a reported potential safety concern in our neighborhood this morning, Ironwood Area Schools went into a 'soft lockdown' status out of an abundance of caution around 9:00 this morning. There was no direct threat to our school or students at any time. Classes continued as usual, but students were kept inside.
We were recently informed that the source of the concern had been addressed by Ironwood Public Safety and was deemed to not be a risk for our school. We lifted the 'soft lockdown' status at approximately 12:40 this afternoon. We are thankful for the ongoing support from Ironwood Public Safety!
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the main office and speak with Mrs. Nigh or Mr. Powell.

Classrooms in grades K-2 take on the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade! After reading "Balloons over Broadway: The True Story of the Puppeteer of Macy's Parade", students learned how much planning and hard work it takes to create such massive balloons and were inspired to make their own! Over the last couple of days, students paraded through the halls, showing off their creations. It was the perfect kick-off into our Thanksgiving break!

Congratulations to our October Students of the Month! These students did a great job modeling our RISE expectations: Clara Schoone (1st grade), MaKenna LaBeske (4th Grade), Bryce Nystrom (8th Grade), Nathan Jaunzems ( 10th Grade) Thanks for doing things the Wright Way!

Dear Families,
We are thankful for you!
As we prepare to take time off from school for the Thanksgiving break (11/23-11/25), we are grateful for everyone who has helped to restore a routine for showing up to school while supporting students and families.
Daily routines are essential for reducing stress and creating a sense of security, especially after the chaotic transitions experienced over the last two years.
As long as your child is healthy, please encourage showing up to class when school is in session. Every day of school is an important opportunity for students to learn as well as connect to peers and their teachers.
We thank:
Our students and their families who do their best to show up to class every day even when it isn’t easy.
Our teachers who have gone above and beyond to help make school a welcoming learning environment where students can thrive.
Our administrators who help us work together to ensure we are healthy and safe, feel a sense of community and experience the excitement of an engaging learning environment.
Our many, many healers and helpers - the support staff and community volunteers who provide the extra hands and attention our children need.
May these days off be restful and healing.
● If your family or your child needs support, please reach out to Auburn Powell (K-6) or Paul Zysk (7-12) for help. Call the main office at 906-932-0932.
● We look forward to seeing you again when school resumes on November 28.
Thank you for partnering with us!
Sincerely,
Melissa Nigh, Principal
Dan Martinson, Assistant Principal
