Congratulations to Ironwood Middle School Band students who were selected for the NWMA All-Conference Band Festival in Maple, WI. Almost 80 Students from 11 participating schools across Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan spent the day rehearsing and performed an evening concert under the direction of Joe Kasparek. On the Monday before break, Mrs. Stempihar and Mrs. Boyd’s 2nd graders collaborated with the fourth grade students to build gingerbread houses - a challenging but fun-filled activity for all!

An IAS art student tradition! These are just a few of the many, many wishes for holiday cheer that 7-12 (and a few 4th grade) art students made for the residents of Westgate. What a great way to celebrate with people of all ages!


The music department finished the music performances with a 5th grade band and choir performance on Thursday. Great job, students!




The Ironwood staff showed some extra holiday spirit by dressing up in matching Grinch shirts, a variety of ugly sweaters, and even some characters from the movie "Elf"!


Ironwood is hosting a 7th and 8th grade dance tonight in the first floor gym from 6-8pm. Admission is $5. This event is for Ironwood students only. Please see the flyer for more information.

The music department was incredibly busy this week, starting off with the sixth grade band and choir concert on Tuesday. Great performances by both groups!








Next up from the music department: the Kindergarten through 4th grade music performance. It was so much fun watching the kids sing, and something even do some fun moves. Congratulations to all for a great performance!

The 7th grade students visited Michigan Tech today, to take part in a festival hosted by Mind Trekkers. Mind Trekkers brings communities together to support an educational ecosystem and strong future workforce in STEM. During the event, students discovered the power of science through experimentation. Experiments included skewering a balloon without popping it, being inside a bubble, and even playing a piano made of bananas!





On Thursday and Friday of last week, GCC instructor Glen Ackerman Behr and his AMD 101 students gave a presentation to Woodworking students. We learned how to interface between our design software and our new CNC router.

Ironwood's Varsity quizbowl team moves on to the Cerebral 16 at the WNMU High School bowl competition by defeating Big Bay de Noc. 230-150! Congratulations, team!

The Accent choir walked through the halls of Ironwood, singing Carol of the Bells. Come hear them Saturday night at 7pm at the Historic Ironwood Theater!
