It was a beautiful day to cross country ski at Wolverine Ski Trails! Jackie and Shanelle from Ottawa National Forest, along with Sue Trull, led the 2nd grade classes on the trails yesterday. They taught the students about the different types of trees they saw along the way. Kathy Bauer and Laurie Celeski from the MSU Extension gave the students a SNAP Education lesson after skiing. They also provided the students with a healthy snack. Thank you to all of the helpers who make this possible each week for our students!

Exciting news about our new School Resource Officer! IAS Alum Officer Clausen from the Ironwood Public Safety Department and Deputy Graser from the Gogebic County Sheriff's Department took part in the TEAM program offered through the Michigan State Police, a program designed to provide comprehensive training for officers who will be supporting schools. The TEAM program trains officers in Teaching, Educating, And Mentoring within schools. Ironwood Area Schools has a long established partnership with Ironwood Public Safety Department and we look forward to the next chapter in this highly supportive and mutually beneficial story with Officer Clausen. Look for more information as the new program develops!
