Mrs. Headley's first grade class enjoyed having moms or other special adults in their lives come to Muffins with Moms. It was an amazing turnout, and the kids were so happy to share their gifts!



The 2nd grade students had a wonderful time celebrating Mother's Day at our 2nd annual Muffins with Mom social this morning. Thank you to all who attended and the cafeteria staff for all their hard work helping make it all possible.




Students from Mrs. Stehlik's class helped Mrs. Clausen's second graders make bird houses for Mother's Day!



High School Band students received excellent ratings at State Solo & Ensemble in Stevens Point this past week. Tyler Smith received a Division II rating for his performance of Haydn's Eb Trumpet Concerto. Percussion trio (Peter Gallo, Justin Darwin, Skyla Ballew) received a Division I rating for their performance. Thank you to Schmitt Music Duluth for providing concert snares to help the students sound their best! Saxophone trio (Jacinta Lauzon, Noah Hofstede, Madelena Braucher) received a Division I rating for their performance as well. Congratulations to all involved students and thank you for being excellent representatives of Ironwood Area Schools!




Mrs.Lyon’s AP Psychology students joined kindergarteners for a nature walk on this beautiful day! The littles were filled with excitement and the high schoolers were fantastic role models!




On Thursday, the 7th grade came down to help Mrs. Balchik's class plant flowers and do some multiplication and division math sheets. They all had so much fun.







Congratulations to the graduates of Gogebic County Community Education Program! Brodie Ellsworth, Braxtin Freeborn, Dale Mahaffey, Chloe Myers, and Timothy Vogelsberg will graduate on Wednesday, May 31 at 6 p.m. in room T-112 of Gogebic Community College. See you there!

On Tuesday evening, 13 new students were inducted into Ironwood's National Honor Society. Our chapter here at Ironwood turned 100 this year as well! Congratulations to: Aidan Bach, Landon Buerger, Felicia Carland, Gracie Huotari, Nathan Jaunzems, Emily Kane, Maleah Maki, Audra Pawlak, Aubrey Smith, Madelyn Smith, Zachary Smith, Olivia Vandenburg, and Hanna Vaughn. Great work, students!



Congratulations to Aidan Bach for not one, but two awards at state solo and ensemble this past weekend! Aidan performed a classical piece, and received a division 1 rating. For her musical theater piece she received a division 2 rating. Excellent work, Aidan!

Accent received a silver award (2nd division) at the state festival in Stevens Point this past weekend. This is a remarkable achievement, given that our choir, consisting of mostly underclassmen, performed Class A music at this level. Congratulations to our student musicians!
You can see this award winning performance this Saturday night at the HIT at 7 p.m. $10 for 13 and up, $5 for 12 and under. The concert is a Billy Joel tribute and features some of his greatest hits. 50-50 raffle as well, must be present to win. See you there!



Mr. Kevin Lyons was recently honored for his years of service at the 5th Annual OPIE Awards Banquet. OPIE stands for 'Outstanding Persons In Education.' This award is sponsored by the Michigan Education Association.
Ironwood Area Schools is very proud of the accomplishments and dedication of Mr. Lyons, and we're grateful for all he contributes to the lives of our students!

It's School Nurse Day today! Thank you to all of the school nurses who help keep our children safe and well. We are thankful to have Pam Lorenson help out our students whether they are feeling unwell, or just needing a bandaid!

Noah Hofstede won the singles tournament in badminton during PE, losing only 1 game! In the doubles division, Brendan McCullough and Noah Hofstede earned the top spot as an undefeated team!



Day 2 of Teacher Appreciation Week Survivor Games is going on, and the teachers were having some fun!




Mrs. Balchik was having fun with her dinosaur puppet, showing the 4th graders how to transplant seeds.








Students worked together to create some beautiful chalk artwork at the front of the school to thank teachers. It's a pleasant way to enter the building!




The PTO created a Survivor Game to celebrate National Teachers' Week. You might see some strange happenings around school, whether it's someone breaking out into a cheer, another person riding a hobby horse, someone else skipping around the school, or any number of silly actions! After three days of fun, we will find out who is the ultimate survivor!








This week, we celebrate the teachers who make a difference in our lives. They are the ones who inspire us, challenge us, and help us grow. They make learning fun and engaging, while preparing us for the future.
Thank you to all the teachers who have made a difference in our lives. We appreciate your hard work, dedication, and passion!
