Out of an abundance of caution, Ironwood Area School went into Lockdown briefly today due to a report of a potential threat from a student. Ironwood Area Schools takes threats like this seriously and always responds quickly to ensure everyone's safety. Law Enforcement from several local agencies responded. By working together, we were able to locate the student and he was taken into custody. After securing the scene and concluding the initial investigation, Law Enforcement contacted the Chief Assistant Prosecuting Attorney. It was determined that there is no immediate threat at this time and the incident will be forwarded to the Prosecutor for review.
IAS wishes to thank all members of Ironwood Public Safety, Gogebic County Sheriffs, Michigan State Police, Hurley Police Department, Iron County Sheriffs Department, and any other Law Enforcement professionals for the rapid response and efficient resolution of the incident.

A few fun shots of the homecoming assembly, including the homecoming court.

The homecoming assembly started with a hall march through the school.

It was a great start to the morning, as the Ironwood Red Devils football players welcomed students to school!

Check out the parade route for tonight's homecoming parade. It begins at 4:30pm at the police station. Hope to see you there!

Mrs. Rubatt’s class wanted to do some architectural work. During free choice, they drew a picture of what they wanted to build. Then they used the picture to build it! This was so awesome to see!

Anatomy and Physiology classes played with Barbie and Ken this week to learn and demonstrate anatomical terms for body planes, regions, and directions. A perfect class lesson for Barbie and Ken day!

The 4th students learned about the chemical change of leaves and went on a nature walk looking at different plants. Thank you to Ranger Saunders, from the Ottawa National Forest, for the information!

The 4th grade students are studying potential and kinetic energy. They were tasked with making a track that would have a marble go through a loop and a hill without having the marble fall off the track or stop. Entertaining and informational!
